Data + Wine Hotspots of Interest: Vintage 2019

This week I’d like to share two unique perspectives with you, as 2019 winds down and we start to take a little annual inventory of the state of wine + data.

One perspective is a run-down of the weekly Enolytics 101 newsletters that have caught more of your attention than others.

The most important takeaway, IMO? Most of us are at a watchful stage, getting our bearings in terms of what data means for our own businesses, and keeping an eye on the early movers.

(Happily, there are significantly more of those early movers now than there were in December 2018. Time to get on board!)

Please scroll down for the titles and links to those most-clicked on Enolytics 101 posts.

The second perspective is something that is maybe not yet on your radar. Enolytics 101 is all about wine + data topics and questions that have come up around the office. At the same time, however, I also write weekly for Inc.com about life behind the scenes of a startup like ours.

The surprise takeaway there, when I reviewed the most popular posts of the year? For me it was the underlying theme of collaboration and partnerships. That showed through whether the context was preparing for a public presentation or preparing dinner at home.

(Interesting, huh? Particularly when there’s so much chatter about the divisive political climate out there.)

The titles and links to those most clicked-on stories are below, too.

BONUS: We also see a fun spike of interest in response to media attention from abroad, particularly related to our colleagues in Madrid at Enolytics Spain. Here is the latest, from a special issue of Big Data Magazine that’s dedicated to the wine industry and artificial intelligence.

DO YOU LIVE OR WORK IN SAN FRANCISCO?

Chris and I will be there next week, to kick off the Chief Data Officer Executive Summit on Tuesday evening, December 10 at the Hilton hotel in Union Square. We’ll be featuring the work of six different partners and clients who we think are tackling some of the most dynamic issues facing the industry today. Interested in knowing more? Please let me know!

Thank you, as always, for reading –

Cathy
