An Unexpected Reason to Complete the SVB State of the Industry Survey

Let me start with Thank You.

Thank you to everyone who filled the registration sheet to the brim for our industry-input “wine AI” webinar this past week. Thank you to those of you who attended live, and contributed your ideas and questions. The webinar achieved exactly what we’d hoped it would: To listen to what is on your mind about AI for wine, and to hear about the directions you would like this journey to take in the coming months and years.

These are exciting times, my friends. We are all here for it.

One of they key points we wanted to communicate during the webinar was that our AI model is fed by a wide range of sources of information. A winery’s first-party data, certainly. The behind-the-paywall subscriptions belonging to that winery. And also an abundance of publicly available sources that are valuable for informing the health and success of our industry.

These third-party sources include reports (think SVB’s State of the Industry and IWSR) as well as data about tourism, the weather, supply chain pressures, and macro-economic trends and analysis.

Which brings me to why I’m writing to ask you to complete the SVB State of the Industry survey if you haven’t already. The SVB report is a valued and much-referenced resource for — and about — our industry. It is, and will continue to be, one of the third-party data sources we include in our AI model, which references textual analysis as well as numerical data.

That combination is important to underscore: numerical data, as you’d expect, and also textual analysis plus visual “data” as well. They are each important streams that feed into the reservoir of our AI model.

Let me put it another way. At Enolytics we are fans of raw data, analyzed for the benefit of level-headed, strategic business decisions. We are also fans of thinkers, analysts, advocates, creators, doers and moonshot-takers. Their contributions need to be and will be part of our AI model too.

Here is the link to complete the SVB State of the Industry survey. Please do so, and soon. It closes on Sunday. The more wineries who participate in the survey, the more relevant the analysis (and its references in AI models) will be.

Thank you,
Cathy
